Universal McCann has published research on the adoption of social media around the world, interviewing a sample of 17,000 active users (who use the internet every day) from 29 countries and aged between 16 and 54. The Italian universe of reference was estimated at 10.2 million users. To the question, have you ever started a blog? 33.3% of the Italians interviewed responded positively (22.5% in September 2006). This means that approximately 3,400,000 blogs would have been created in Italy. The data causes hilarity as it is not accompanied by the most important information, that of the frequency of updating the blog.
Furthermore, McCann, by not clarifying what he means by blog, leaves the interviewees India Mobile Number Data free to refer to their presence on Windows Live Spaces, MySpace or other services widely used for uploading photos and videos, rather than for sharing thoughts. And in fact, to the question "what contents do you post?" 60% responded with photos and almost 30% with videos. Therefore there could be 3.4 million of something that the interviewees define as blogs, but not as many bloggers (a mirror concept to that of bloggers without blogs ).
mccann-blog As regards social networks, there are 4 million Italians registered on at least one of them. Here the answer seems closer to reality given the success of Badoo (see Fabio ) and Netlog (see Roldano ). The research confirms some global trends: – Asians are the most active users in the production of content – China has more bloggers than Europe and the United States combined – the impact of blogs on brand reputation: 34% of those who have a blog write their opinions on products and services, 36% of respondents consider companies that have blogs positively.
